Charles Leon Former Falls Chef
Little Falls Charles H. Leon, 59 of Little Falls RD, a chef in area diners most of his life, died Wednesday in Little Falls Hospital.
He was born in Little Falls, son of Dennis and Anna Pauth Leon. He married Edna Johnson in Little Falls in 1924. He was employed at the Little Falls Diner until he retired two years ago. He was a member of St Mary's Church and the Little Falls Fish and Game Club
Besides his wife, he leaves nine sons, Charles Jr. Stratford; Harold of Ilion, Leo, Dayton, Terry and Richard, all of Little Falls, Gordon of Frankfort; Dennis station in Germany with the Army; Thomas stationed in the Army in Korea; three daughters, Mrs. Edna Barner, Mrs Patricia Sebastian, both of St. Johnsville and Mrs. Shirley Ashley, Little Falls; one brother Frank Leon, Selkirk and four sisters, Mrs Ann Glass of Deferiet, Mrs Mary Edick of Ilion, Mrs Gertrude Vogel of Mohawk and Mrs. Ruth Huss of Utica.
The funeral will be at 9 am Saturday from the Sheehan Funeral Home and at 9:30 From St. Mary's Church. Burial will be in St Mary's Cemetery, Town of Herkimer.
Calling house will be from 7 to 9 PM today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM Friday.
His son Terry told me that Charles enlisted in the US Navy at the age of 16, served in WW1, aboard the USS Pennsylvania BB-38 Eight Battle Stars
