EDITH C. LONG — WESTERNPORT — Edith Catherine Long, 86, of resident of Moran Manor Nursing Home, Westernport, Md., and formerly of Cumberland, Md., died Sunday, January 25, 1998, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.

Born on July 15, 1911, in Garrett County, Md., she was a daughter of the late Harmon G. Broadwater and Harriett Catherine (Bittinger) Broadwater. In addition to her parents, she also was preceded in death by her former husband, Clifford F. Long, on Jan. 29, 1986, and four sisters, Minnie E. Broadwater, Dorothy A. Sutherland, Flossie O. Beeman and Nellie E. Llewellyn.

Mrs. Long was formerly employed as a cook at the former Fort Cumberland Hotel. She was a member of the Living Stone Church of the Brethren.

Surviving are five brothers, Howard W. Broadwater and Grover C. Broadwater, both of LaVale; Edward C. Broadwater, of Corriganville; Herbert L. Broadwater, of Millersville, and Robert H. Broadwater, of Lonaconing, and six sisters, Della V. Beeman, of LaVale; Theresa P. Broadwater and Lillie M. Broadwater, both of Westernport; Myrtle M. Broadwater, of York, Pa., and Rosella J. Rounds and Thelma M. Bittinger, both of Grantsville.

Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Lonaconing, on Tuesday, Jan. 27, from 2 until 4 and 7 until 9 p.m. Funeral Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday, January 29, at 1 p.m. with her nephew, the Rev. Homer Beeman will be officiating.

Interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Moscow Mills.
