Myrtle Marie (Broadwater) Broadwater, 91, died at 10:40 p.m. Wednesday, December 6, 2006, at her daughter's home in York New Salem, with her family at her side. She was the wife of Carl Hayward Broadwater, who died August 6, 1994. A Celebration of Life Service will be 10 a.m. Monday, December 11, 2006, at Hafer Funeral Home, 1302 National Highway, LaVale, Md., with her nephew, Pastor Homer Beeman, Pastor Ray Stuber, and Pastor Robert Lehigh, officiating. Burial will be in Rest Lawn Cemetery, LaVale. Viewing in York will be 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York. Viewing in LaVale will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at Hafer Funeral Home. Mrs. Broadwater was born July 10, 1915, in Barton, Garrett County, Md. She was the daughter of the late Harmon G. and Harriet C. (Bittinger) Broadwater. She worked at Stump Acres Dairy Farm in York New Salem for many years until her retirement. She was active her entire life loving to sew, quilt, bake, can, and hook and braid rugs. She was a member of the Shrewsbury Dunkard Brethren Church. Mrs. Broadwater leaves her son, Marvin L. Broadwater of Inman, S.C.; her two daughters, Glendora M. Stump of York New Salem, and Lula C. Cimini of Williamsport; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; five sisters, Della Beeman of LaVale, Md., Theresa Broadwater of Westernport, Md., Rosella Rounds Yoder of Springs, Lillie Broadwater of Westernport, Md., and Thelma Bittinger Ickes of Salisbury; two brothers, Grover Broadwater of LaVale, and Robert Broadwater of Lonaconing, Md.; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Dennis Stump; two great-grandchildren; and eight brothers and sisters.
