WESTERNPORT — Harmon Grover Broadwater, 88, of RD 1, Westernport, Md., died Saturday, December 1, 1973, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, Md.


Born on April 11, 1885, in Barton, Md., he was a son of the late Mortimer Totten "Tot" Broadwater and Lucinda Ellen (Magruder) Broadwater. In addition to his parents he also was preceded in death by his wife, Harriet Catherine (Bittinger) Broadwater, in 1958; three grandchildren, Austin, Harley and Amy Broadwater; two brothers, Lawrence Broadwater and Walter Broadwater; two half-brothers, Augustus Broadwater and infant Wilson Broadwater; one sister, Edith Broadwater, and one half-sister, Elsie Green.


He was a retired farmer, and was a member of the Dunkard Brethren Church of Savage River.


Surviving are five sons, Howard Wilson Broadwater and Grover Cornelius Broadwater, both of LaVale; Edward Cleveland Broadwater, Hampton, Va.; Herbert Lee Broadwater, Baltimore, and Robert Harmon Broadwater, here; 11 daughters, Miss Minnie Ethyl Broadwater, at home; Mrs. Dorothy Agnes Sutherland, and Mrs. Nellie Ellen Llewellyn, both of Barton, Mrs. Della Victoria Beeman, LaVale; Mrs. Flossie Olive Beeman, Lonaconing; Mrs. Theresa Pearl Broadwater, and Mrs. Lillie Myelisa Broadwater, both of here; Mrs. Rosella Jane Rounds, and Mrs. Thelma Mabel Bittinger, both of Grantsville; Mrs. Edith Catherine Long, Cumberland, and Mrs. Myrtle Marie Broadwater, York, Pa.; 62 grandchildren, 116 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Jesse Broadwater, Barton; two half-brothers, Charles Broadwater, Frostburg, and Elbert Broadwater, Swanton, and seven half-sisters, Mrs. Bessie Weir, and Mrs. Laura Smith, both of Lonaconing; Mrs. Lucinda Green, Gilmore; Mrs. Frances Broadwater, Frostburg; Mrs. Christine Smith, Baltimore; Mrs. Alice Wilt, here and Mrs. Margret Green, Alexandria, Va.


The body is at the Boal Funeral Home, here, where friends will be received today from 7 until 9 p.m. Services will be conducted tomorrow at 1 p.m. at the Westernport Church of the Brethren by Elder Paul Myers.


Interment will be in Mt. View Cemetery, Moscow Mills.


The body will be taken to the church at 11 a.m.
