Isaac Perry Hartman, 55, died Saturday morning at his home near the Morman church on Smith Creek. He had been in very frail health for two years and bore his affliction with great patience.

He was the youngest child of William Perry and Catherine (Lough) Hartman, well known citizens of the Smith Creek vicinity half a century ago.

Thirty-five years ago he was united in marriage with Miss Lucy Vandevander and ten daughters and four sons were born to this union, all of whom are living and were present at their father's funeral. They are, Charles Hartman of Reids Creek; Arthur Hartman of Piedmont; Tom and Harry Hartman at home; Mrs. Fred Pennington of Reids Creek; Mrs. Willie Lambert of Circleville; Mrs. Byron Bodkin of Brandywine; Mrs. Rennie Lambert of Durbin; Mrs. Floyd Simmons near Franklin; and Mary, Virgie, Dora, Nettie and Buanna Hartman at home.

Funeral services were conducted at the Hartman home by Rev. Allen and interment was made in the cemetery on the old Perry Hartman farm, where his ancestors have been buried for several generations.

He is survived by his widow, fourteen children and thirty-five grandchildren; and by three brothers, Bud Hartman, Charles Hartman.

Isaac Perry Hartman, son of William Perry and Permelia Catherine (Lough) Hartman, was born July 16, 1877, at the old Hartman home on Smith Creek near Franklin. He resided nearby the old home place until killed by death June 3, 1932.

He was married December 24, 1897, to Lucy Vandevander.

His life has been one of kindness, good fellowship and service to all. His noble soul radiated always cheer and sunshine. His word of encourgement and pleasant smile will long be missed by his family and many friends who respected him. Like his father and mother, the latch-string to his door always hung on the outside, alike to friend and stranger.

By such policy they received the Mormon Elders into their home, feeding and sheltering them. Like his parents he believed and accepted the message of the restored gospel of Christ, being baptized twenty-seven years ago as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He lived a life worthy of emulation.

He leaves behind a good wife, fourteen children and many grandchildren. He is also survived by three brothers and one sister. His wife and five of the children are members of the same church he was.

He always provided well for his family and reared them to the best of his ability.
