A funeral service will be held this afternoon in the Franklin Presbyterian Church at two o'clock for Mrs. Retta Margaret Hartman Pennington of Ruddle who died at her home early Tuesday morning, February 28, 1961. Mrs. Pennington, 62, had been in failing health for several years. She was born March 4, 1898 at Franklin a daughter of Isaac Perry and Lucy Vandevander Hartman. On November 7, 1927 she married Fred Pennington, who survives. She was a member of the Smith Creek Church of the Brethren and her pastor, the Rev. Lowell Ritchie will have charge of the funeral service.

She is survived by three children, one daughter, Alma at home and two sons, Richard G. and Harry W. Pennington, Franklin; also seven grandchildren. Two children preceded her in death. Nine sisters and four brothers also survive. They are: Mrs. Bessie Lambert, Accomac, Virginia, Mrs. Byron Bodkin, Brandywine, Mrs. Rennie Lambert, Durbin, Mrs. Floyd Simmons, Piqua, Ohio, and Mrs. Woodrow Johnston, Mrs. Joseph Simmons, Mrs. Earl Murphy, Mrs. Ralph Moyers, Mrs. Kermit Judy, all of Franklin; Tom and Harry Hartman, Franklin, Arthur, Keyser, and Charlie, Harrisonburg, Virginia. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Franklin by Brown Funeral Service. Funeral assisted by W. Glenn Sponaugle.
