Carl S. Leiker, 82, died Sunday, April 6, 1997 at Hays Good Samaritan Center. He was born Oct. 15, 1914 at Munjor, the son of Carl S. and Rose Engel.

A Hays resident, he was the former owner of Leiker Sheet Metal. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hays.

On Nov. 18, 1935 he married Helen Schmidt at Munjor. She died Jan. 9, 1996.

Survivors include: four sons, Merlyn and Earl, both of Hays, Harold of Longmont, Colo., and Carl Jr. of Kingman, Ariz.; two daughters, Janet Dreiling of Lake Havasu, Ariz., and Betty Walter of Hays; three brothers, Edward and Henry, both of Hays, and Victor of New Jersey; two sisters, Cecilia Gross and Mary Leiker, both of Hays; 20 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Alex and Alois; and five sisters, Anna Leiker, Rose Kryzer, Adeline Klaus, Pauline Klaus and Philomena Pfannenstiel.
