One of the saddest events that happened in the town of Munjor was when word came to John S. Leiker, telling that his brother Carl had died.
Mr. Leiker was sick from many years and had to live a life as a sick man. On Monday, he went to Hays seeking help but the doctors said his only chance was in an operation, and then only slight. He was operated upon but after the operation no sign of recovery came. Saturday following he died after very much in pain, though well prepared for death at the St. Anthony's Hospital at Hays. He was taken to Munjor, where his remains were laid to rest at the St. Francis Cemetery Sunday.
He was born in Munjor, Russia, in the year 1874, and came to this country when six months old. His parents settled on a farm near Munjor and lived there since 1876.
He was married on the 22nd day of Nov. in the year 1897 to Rosa Engel.
To them were born 14 children of which 12 are living. He leaves a brother John S. Leiker, and two sisters, Mrs. Henry Rupp and Ven. Sr. M. Athanasia, his wife, Rosa Leiker and children, Pauline, Alex, Adeline, Annie, Alois, Cecelia, Philomena, Edward, Henry, Celestina, Carl and Victor.
He was forty-two years five months and ten days old. May God grant him peace.
