Henry S. Leiker, 90, 417 E. 16th, died Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, at St. John's of Hays.
He was born Oct. 14, 1911, in Munjor to Carl and Rosa (Engel) Leiker. He graduated from St. Joseph College in 1931.
He married Regina Kreutzer on May 3, 1938, in Munjor. He was a farmer-stockman, retiring in 1976. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, both of Hays.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; three sons, John H., Arvada, Colo., Alan H., Hays, and Mark H., Munjor; three daughters, DeAnn Schmidt, Hays, Ella Mueggenberg, Carroll, Iowa, and Jane Leiker, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a sister, Mary Leiker, Hays; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Daniel H. Leiker; five brothers, Alex, Alois, Edward, Carl and Victor; and six sisters, Pauline Klaus, Adeline Klaus, Anna Bieker, Cecilia Gross, Philomena Pfannenstiel and Rose Celestina Kryzer.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Father Don Zimmerman officiating; burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays.
A Perpetual Adorers rosary will be at 3 p.m., a Daughters of Isabella rosary at 6:30 p.m., a parish vigil service at 7 p.m. with Father David Metz officiating, and a Knights of Columbus rosary at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 20th and Pine. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church Burial Fund, 18th and Vine.
