Mary A. Leiker, 87, Hays, died Sunday, April 24, 2005, at Hays Medical Center. She was born Jan. 7, 1918, in Munjor to Carl and Rosa (Leiker) Leiker.

She married Clarence J. Leiker at Munjor.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Altar Society Christian Mothers, both of Hays.

Survivors include two daughters, Arlene Denning and husband, Dean, Hays, and Wanda Leiker, Hays; two grandchildren, Jennifer Taggart and husband, Travis, Hays, and Adam Denning, Portland, Ore.; two great-grandsons, Charlie and Max; and a step great-granddaughter, MacKenzie.

She was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Joe; six brothers, Alex Leiker, Alois Leiker, Edward Leiker, Carl Leiker, Victor Leiker and Henry Leiker, and six sisters, Pauline Klaus, Minnie Pfannenstiel, Adeline Klaus, Anna Bieker, Cecelia Gross and Rose Celestine Kryzer.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church; burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. An Altar Society Christian Mothers rosary will be at 4 p.m., a Daughters of Isabella rosary at 6 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m., all Tuesday at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 20th and Pine. Visitation will be from 3:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to a trust fund established for her daughter, Wanda Leiker, or for Masses.
