Katie Patterson Battle was born on July 20, 1909, and was the twelfth child born to Will and Roxie Patterson.
On February 5, 1930, she married Arthur Battle. This union produced 8 children. They include David, Delp., Katherine, Leonard, Imogene, Esau, Marion, and Jacques.
Both Katie and Arthur believed strongly in higher education. As a result, the majority of their children have attended and graduated from college.
Katie passed away from lung cancer on March 1, 1968.
