James Arthur Patterson was born in Attala County, MS; to William and Roxie Patterson on August 16, 1912.

At an early age, he joined the church. He was a long member of the Church of God, Center, MS; and Church of God, Milwaukee, WI.

He was married to the late Mrs. Emma Jane (Nash) Patterson. To this union, four daughters and two sons were born. He later married Emma Washington.

He departed this life on July 31, 1978.

He is survived by his wife, Emma Patterson; Children, David Patterson, Memphis, TN; Unetha Boatman, Milwaukee, WI; Karetha Patterson, Milwaukee, WI; Alzenia Claypool, Milwaukee, WI; Juanita Jones, Los Angeles, CA. Stepdaughters, Jo Etta Thompson, Milwaukee, WI; Jeanette Thompson, Kosciusko, MS. Brothers and Sisters, Harvey Patterson, South Bend, IN; Sol Patterson, Los Angeles, CA; Esau Patterson, Chicago, IL; Bennie Patterson, Los Angeles, CA; Mary Wilson, Milwaukee, WI; Hattie Whittington, Kosciusko, MS; Roxie Weatherly, Benton Harbor, MI; Caroline Nash, Kosciusko, MS; Twelve grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
