Harvey Patterson

Harvey Patterson, 89, of 702 S. Rush, died at 11:38 a.m. Wednesday in St Josephs Hospital after suffering an apparent heart attack. He was retired from the U.S. Steel Co. plant in Gary, IN.

Born on Dec. 24, 1891, in Kosciusko, MS; he had lived in South Bend for 21 years, moving here from Gary, IN.

He was a member of Layman Chapel C.M.E. Church, and a World War I army veteran.

On Nov. 6, 1939, in Greenwood, MS; he married Ada Williams, who survives. Also surviving are two stepdaughters, Mrs. Bessie Gauldin of South Bend, IN; and Mrs. Pearl Tippitt of Gary, IN; two sons, Fred of Gary, IN; and Warren of Kosciusko, MS; two stepsons, James and Russell Williams, both of Gary, IN; 19 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Hattie Whittington and Mrs. Roxie Weatherley, both of Kosciusko, MS; and Mrs. Caroline Nash and Mrs. Mary Wilson, both of Milwaukee, WI; and three brothers, Esau of Chicago, IL; and Saul and Bennie, both of Los Angeles, CA.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in the Layman Chapel C.M.E. Church.
Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Alfords Mortuary.
