Zina was born in 1864 in Wanship, Summit Co., Utah to George G. Snyder and his third wife, Caroline Kilfoyle Snyder. She was the fifth of eleven children. She lived several years growing up in Wanship before the family moved to the Snyderville/Park City area to the Snyder Ranch near Kimball Junction. She was part of a very large family of siblings and half-siblings.
In 1888, she married a local Park City young man, Murray Shepherd who worked in the retail business. He later worked in the business/accounting end of many businesses including the Snyder mining companies.
They resided in Utah for many years and then moved to California in the late 1920s where they called home for the last may years of their lives.
Zina and Murray had three children, two daughters, Carol and Olive and a son, Frank. Murray died in 1934 and Zina lived for thirty more years, passing away in 1964. Many of her brothers and sisters lived in close proximity to her in California.
