Chelan County Pioneer Passes Away
William Briskey died at his home near Cashmere last Tuesday night, following an operation for appendicitis performed by Dr. McCoy, of Wenatchee, on Monday. He was stricken on Sunday last and an operation was deemed the only course notwithstanding his extreme age, which was 67. He was not able to withstand the shock and passed away as stated above.
Uncle Bill, as his familiars called him, came to this country when what is now Chelan was part of Kittitas county, and settled on the place where he died, almost thirty years ago. By berth he was a Georgian and had all
the characteristics of the southern gentleman, he was hospitable and generous to a fault, he loved his friends and was just to those he could not call by that endearing term. He is survived, besides a brother, George Briskey, who resides near Leavenworth, by a widow and nine children. The married daughters are Mrs. W. T. Rarey, of Wenatchee; Mrs. N. Patterson, of Leavenworth; Mrs. George Beam, of Cashmere. Those unmarried and living at home are John Briskey, David Briskey, Alice Briskey, Marie Briskey, Belle Briskey and Edith Briskey.
