Nicholas Briskey Pioneer Yields to Death Call
Death of Nicholas Briskey, 73, a resident in the Cashmere valley for 28 years occurred Monday evening at the home of his niece, Mrs Leslie Burgess of Leavenworth. Mr. Briskey is a pioneer of this valley and spent most of his days orcharding in Brender canyon. Briskey had been ill approximately a year with heart trouble which was the cause of his death. Funeral services took place this afternoon (Thursday) at 2 from the Kuelbs Chapel with Rev. Haslam of the Baptist church officiating. Nicholas Briskey was horn in Alabama September 6, 1860. He came to Cashmere 26 years ago where he lived with his family up Brender canyon. His wife and daughter, Nan -Mabey of Boise, preceded him in death. His occupation was that of' an orchardist and was well known being a pioneer of the Wenatchee valley. He is survived by four sons: Jessie, John, George and Guy all of Cashmere, five daughters: Mrs. Aleatha Laney of Wenatchee, Kirs Ruth Garthe of Seattle, Myrtle McLarty of Michigan, Mrs. Mattie Walker and Inez Carl both of Cashmere. Also 44 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Active bearers were Ed Abeling, Berm Simpson, Cliff Knowles, Jim Graham, Barnard Eliot and Jones. Honorary bearers were Felix and Dan Shaser, Deak Brown of Monitor Dad Burgess of Leavenworth and Clark Schmitten. Burial took place in the Cashmere cemetery.
