Mrs. Edith Cooper died in Seattle last Sunday. The body passed thru here Tuesday on the way to Cashmere for burial at her childhood home. She was a victim of the prevailing influenza, which finally developed into pneumonia. She was well know here, where she often visited, as Miss Edith Briskey, and several years ago taught a term of school in the Chumstick valley. She was married last spring to Mr. Ben Cooper and went to Seattle to make her home there.

EDITH DRISKEY COOPER

Mrs. Edith Driskey Cooper, wife of Ben Cooper, died Monday in Seattle and the remains were brought to Cashmere Tuesday. Mrs. Cooper was formerly Miss Edith Briskey and was a daughter of the well-known pioneer William Briskey. She was born in Cashmere January 9, 1897 and has resided here her entire life.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday morning at the grave in the Treadwell-Briskey family burying ground. Rev. F. Stuart Hyatt officiating. Mrs. Cooper was a lovable and talented young lady and in the family and among a large circle of relatives and friends her untimely death comes as a great shock and sad blow. She has been known here through babyhood, girlhood and young womanhood and was highly esteemed. She received her education In the Cashmere and Wenatchee schools graduating from the high school at the latter place. For the past two years she has taught at Palisades. On March 2d of this year she was united in marriage to Mr. Ben Cooper and just before she was stricken, was getting nicely settled in a home of her own in Seattle.

Surviving her husband and eight brothers and sisters. The brothers are John W. Briskey of Anacortes, H. M. Briskey of Farmer, and David D. Briskey in the US Tank Service at Camp Colt, Gettysburg. Pa, The sisters are Mrs. Geo. Beam and Mrs. Harrison C. Clark of Cashmere, Mrs. W. T. Rarey of Seattle, Mrs. Carl Theuson of Snohomish, and Miss Ethel Briskey Wilcox of Clinton.
