Funeral services for Robert Newton Polk, age 91, of the Center Community, Route 2, Vidalia, will be held (today) in the Center Methodist Church, Thursday, at 2:00 p.m., with the Rev. Curtis Drake officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Mr. Polk died at his home Tuesday afternoon. He was the oldest member of the Center Methodist Church and a retired sawmill operator.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Sara Yancey Polk, of Route 2, Vidalia; three daughters, Mrs. W.T. Dykes, Route 2, Vidalia, Mrs. J.M. Dowdy of Savannah, and Mrs. P.A. Thompson, Route 2, Vidalia; three sons, M.J. Polk of Vidalia, J.R. Polk of Milan, and W.R. Polk of Tucson, Ariz.; five sisters, Mrs. Irene Smith of Lithonia, Ga., Mrs. Ed Jump of Macon, Ga., Mrs. Ellis Tyler of Milledgeville, Ga., Mrs. Owen Johnson of McIntyre, Ga., and Mrs. Bill Moseley of Milledgeville, Ga.; three brothers, Julius Polk of Milledgeville, Ga., Carl Polk of Monticello, Ga., and Grover Polk of Atlanta, Ga.; 36 grandchildren, 78 great-grandchildren, 16 great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Active pallbearers: Carl, Bob, Otto, Herbert and Jule Dykes and Larry Thompson.

Honorary pallbearers: Bill Tippett, B.C. Stephens, W.W. Rowland, T.H. Tippett, Henry Meade, Jimmy Meade, Delmas Galbreath, Matthew Banks, H.D. McNair, Clyde McNair, Ezra Roberts, Tom McDonald, V.E. Poole, Johnny Osborn, Paul Joyner, Marvin McNatt.

The body will remain at the funeral home and will be taken to the church at one o'clock to lie in state until the funeral hour. Pallbearers are requested to meet at the church at one o'clock.

Cooper Funeral Home of Lyons, is in charge of arrangements.
