Mr. Polk was a native of Newton County and had lived in Milledgeville most of his life.
He was an employee of Milledgeville State Hospital until his retirement.
Survivors include his widow; six sons, J.O. Polk, Atlanta, R.F. of Americus, F.D. of Gray, A.B. of Macon, T.R. of Macon and James B. Polk of Milledgeville; two daughters, Mrs. Rowena Hackett of Miami, Fla., and Mrs. Doris Woodall of Macon; one brother, Carl Polk of Monticello; five sisters, Mrs. Irene Smith of Lithonia, Mrs. Annie Mae Jump of Macon, Mrs. H.E. Tyler, Mrs. Owen Johnson, and Mrs. William Moseley, all of Milledgeville; 17 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
