Funeral services for Joseph P. Depies, 74, of 1813 Madison St., New Holstein, president of Depies Oil Co. at New Holstein will be held at Ebre-Evjen Funeral Home, New Holstein, and at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, New Holstein.
Born in the Town of Charlestown on Nov. 4, 1899, he was a son of Henry and Margaret Petesch Depies. He attended St. Mary's School in Chilton. On June 26, 1929 he married Margaret Bell at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Chilton.
Mr. Depies was a resident of New Holstein for 59 years and operated the bulk oil plant there for 48 years and also at Hilbert from 1934 until 1939. He was a member of Holy Rosary Church, New Holstein, Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus at Chilton, Wisconsin Petroleum Association, National Oil Jobbers Council, New Holstein Association of Commerce and National Association of Commerce.
Mr. Depies served on the Calumet County Board for the City of New Holstein from 1955 to 1968. During 1967 he was the Calumet County Board Chairman of Public Grounds and Property Committee which at the time built the annex on the current courthouse.
Surviving are his widow; two sons, Joseph A and Paul both of New Holstein; 13 grandchildren; and four brothers, Arthur of Hilbert, Edgar and Walter both of New Holstein, and Henry of Chilton. A brother and sister preceded him in death.
