A funeral Mass will be held for Arthur W. Kautz at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in West Albany, rural Millville, with the Rev. Richard J. Engels officiating. Burial will be in St. Clement's Catholic Cemetery in Hammond.
Mr Kautz, 94, a resident of Hillcrest Community Care Center in Plainview, formerly of Hammond, died Tuesday evening (Feb. 23,1999) at the care center.
He was born Dec.30,1904, in Claremont. On Dec.30,1925, he married Helen C. Murray in Pine Island,and they lived in rural Pine Island, Rochester, rural Millville, rural Hammond and the city of Hammond. His wife, a homemaker, died Jan.15,1989. Mr Kautz was a farmer and construction laborer. He was a longtime member of the former St. Clement's Catholic Church and enjoyed faming, horses and music.
Survivors include two daughters, Rosemary Kelley of Hammond and Margaret(Mrs. Edward)Kieffer of Altura; four sons, John of Frontenac, William and Richard, both of Rochester, and Kenneth of Zumbro Falls; 44 grandchildren; 81 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a son, a daughter, five grandchildren and a great-grandson.
Friends may call from 4 p.m.to 8 p.m Friday at Schleicher Funeral Homes-Plainview Chapel and an hour before the service Saturday at the church. There will be a prayer service at 4:15 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
