Helen Kautz, 87, of Hammond, a longtime area resident, died Sunday evening at Olmsted Community Hospital in Rochester.
She was born June 16, 1901 in New York City and came to the area with her family as an infant. On Dec 30, 1925, she married Arthur Kautz in Pine Island. She was a member of the St. Clement's Catholic Church in Hammond and its women's council.
Survivors include her husband; five sons, John of Prescott Ariz., William and Richard both of Rochester, Donald of Hammond and Kenneth of Zumbro Falls; three daughters, Rose Mary (Mrs. Charles) Kelly of Hammond, Margaret (Mrs. Edward) Keiffer of Elba and Ruth (Mrs. David) Preble of Zumbor Falls; 33 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. Four grandchildren and a great-grandchild preceded her in death.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St Clement's Catholic Church with the Rev. Bernard Kerrigan officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Schleicher Funeral Home in Millville and an hour before the service at the church. A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
