Obituary - Margaret H. Kieffer - Elba
ELBA- A funeral Mass for Margaret H. Kieffer will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Aloysius Catholic church in Elba, with the Rev. Donald Schmitz officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Kieffer, 74, of Elba, a retired US West Communications employee, died early Thursday (March 28,2002) at Saint Mary's Hospital in Rochester following a lengthy illness.
Margaret Helen Kautz was born Jan. 15, 1928, in Pine Island and attended St. John's Catholic School in Rochester. On Aug. 24, 1954, she married Edward A. Kieffer in Rochester. They farmed in the Elba area. Mrs. Kieffer also was a telephone operator and supervisor for Northwestern Bell and US West until her retirement. She taught religion and enjoyed playing bingo and traveling.
Survivors include her husband; four sons, Gerald, Kevin and Tim, all of Elba, and Bruce of Plainview; five daughters, Londa (Lonnie) Virning, Tamara (Tim ) Murphy, Beth (Tom) Iverson and Barbara (Michael) Johnson, all of Elba, and Lynne (Dan) Moldenhauer of Lakeville, Minn.; 24 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Rosemary Kelley of Hammond; and four brothers, John "Jack" (Cecilia) Kautz of Peoria, Ariz., William (Patricia)Kautz and Richard (Jane)Kautz, both of Rochester, and Kenneth (Rose Ann) Kautz of Zumbro Falls. She was preceded in death by a daughter, a brother and a sister.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Schleicher funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel and an hour before the service Tuesday at the church. The rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
