The eldest child of James Abner and Anna (Bateman) Dunn, Uncle Bill was married to Ethel Brooks Perkins on Nov. 6, 1888 at Clifton, KS. They made their home on a farm near Clyde, KS. To this union were born seven children: Russell Brooks, Charles William, Frankie, Richard Harold, Vera Pansy, Fred Lamont and Ethel Neva.

Ethel passed away three days after the birth of their last child and Uncle Bill was left with six children to care for. (Frankie had passed away in 1895 at the age of one.) Two years later he was married to Ethel's sister, Lizzie Perkins Burke, on Oct. 4, 1913. She cared for his children as her own. A few years later they moved their family to what later became the State of Oklahoma, settling on a farm near the present village of Stafford. Still later they moved to Colville, WA where they lived a few years before coming back to Oklahoma.

In addition to farming, Bill served six terms in the Oklahoma legislature, beginning in 1935. He also served on the Ration Board during WW2, on the school boards of Valley View and Pleasant Hill schools, as Sunday School superintendent, on the board of the Farmer's Co-op Elevator and the Farmer's Union Oil Royalty Co. in Oklahoma City. He was a member of the First Methodist Church. Lizzie passed away in 1941 and in 1942 Uncle Bill was married to Julia Vowell. He died in Clinton, OK on July 31, 1959 and was buried at the Stafford Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of the home, three sons, two daughters and their spouses, several grandchildren and a host of other relatives. Preceding him in death were his two wives, his parents and two sons, Frankie in 1895 and Fred in 1919.
