Former Resident of Waterville Died at Her Home in This City.
Anastasia Ryan, wife of Thomas Cain of 738 Lafayette St., and formerly well known resident of Waterville, died at her home at 4:20 o'clock yesterday afternoon. Mrs. Cain had been in poor health for some time past and about eight weeks ago she suffered a general breaking down in health. She was given every possible care that loving hands and skillful physicians could devise, but she failed gradually until death came. She passed peacefully away and with good faith and an abiding hope in God's love and mercy.

Mrs. Cain was born in Tipperary, Ireland, 70 years ago, a daughter of James and Winifred Ryan. She came to this country with her parents when quite young. The family settled at Waterville and lived in that vicinity for a long time. On Jan. 1, 18 [unreadable], she was married to Thomas Cain in Waterville. The members of the family moved to Utica some years ago and had since made their home here. Mrs. Cain was a very estimable woman and she was greatly beloved by her friends. She was a kind neighbor, a thoughtful and helpful friend, and it always gave her pleasure to assist any [unreadable because of crease in paper]. She was a devout Christian woman and was a loyal member of St. Patrick's Church in this city. The death of Mrs. Cain will be sincerely mourned by all who knew her well, and the love and affection she showed as a wife, mother and friend will not soon be forgotten.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Cain is survived by four sons, Dennis, James and Edward of Utica, and Thomas F. of Madison; five daughters, Mrs. Anna Rogers and the Misses Mary, Catharine, Alice and Winifred Cain, all of Utica; three grandchildren; three brothers, Patrick Ryan of Waterville, Anthony and Edward Ryan of Forge Hollow, NY; and three sisters, Mrs. Julia Agee[sic, Agan] of ______ [unreadable because of another crease] Mrs. Amy Davenport of Utica.
