Son of John Peter Radden & Gertrude Kramer

Married Mary Neirath, 16 Oct 1883, Stearns, Minnesota

John (1857-1951) and his brother Theodore Raden emigrated in 1879 from Schleid, Germany, in Kreis Bitburg, Regierungs Bezirk Trier to escape three years of forced army service. They came to St. Cloud, where John secured a loan from "Mr. Thielman," a former neighbor in Bitburg, who had a general store in St. Cloud." Two years after the oldest sons left, they sent for their family in Germany.

John married Mary Neirath whose passage with his family in February of 1881 he financed. He worked for the railroad for twelve years, then farmed land the railroad lost through tax default. After a court returned the land to the railroad, John and Mary Raden lived in St. Cloud, where he managed the Grand Union Hotel for three years and was the janitor at Holy Angels for eighteen years.
