John Peter and Gertrude came to America in 1881 after their son's John and Theodore sent for them. The passage over the ocean lasted twenty-two days because the ship encountered stormy weather. The family arrived in New York on February 23, 1881, and immediately came to Avon in Stearns County, where Theodore was living.
John Peter and Gertrude Radden were tailors who made wedding dresses as well as men's suits, plying their trade in the old country and in the new. Together they made every article of clothing worn at the time.

-----------------------------
John's wife is Gertrude Krämer Radden.
Buried in Avon, this is according to the St. Benedict's church records (in latin). But, he is not on that list of people buried in St. Benedict's, this suggests that there is no existing gravestones. The new St. Benedict's cemetery began in 1923 and many of the graves were moved from the old cemetery to the new, but not all of them. Since there is no gravestones for him today, it is hard to say if they were moved to the new one or not. They may have been, but cannot tell. Either way, he was buried in Avon, and were originally buried in the Old St. Benedict Cemetery.
