Mrs. Meyers Passed Away Sat. Morning

Born in Germany March 9, 1859 - Was 78 Year Ago

Mrs. Anna Katherine Meyers, a resident of this city for the past 37 years, passed away Saturday morning, April 6th, at 3:00 a.m. following an illness of several years' duration. Death came to her at the home of her daughter, Mrs. S.G. Schwarzbauer, 507 Ash Street. Mrs. Meyers was taken to the home of her daughter two weeks prior to her death.

Born in Schleid, Germany, on March 9, 1859, Mrs. Meyers had attained the age of 78 years. Her childhood days were spent in Germany, where she lived until she became 22 years of age, when she immigrated to America. Mrs. Meyers came to Avon immediately, and during her first year of residence in that village, about 55 years ago, was united in marriage to Theodore Keppers. To this union four children were born, one of whom a son, passed away in infancy. The other children, three daughters, who survive, are as follows: Mrs. August Koopman, Buffalo Lake MN; Mrs. Gunder Jensen, Brainerd MN; Mrs. S.G. Schwarzbauer, Sauk Centre. Mr. Keppers, the husband father, passed away at Avon about 49 years ago.

A year later, she was united in marriage to Mathias Meyers, at Avon, where they lived for sometime. Thirty-seven years ago they came to this city where Mr. Meyers found employment in the Kellar Wagon Factory. Six children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Meyers, all of them living, as follows: Peter Meyers, Aloysius Meyers, Mathias Meyers, all of Brainerd; Mrs. August Thelsen of Duluth; Wilfred Meyers of Buffalo Lake; Miss Victoria Meyers, Sauk Centre. Mr. Meyers preceded his wife in death on November 16, 1932. Besides the children, Mrs. Meyers is survived by 32 grandchildren; two brothers, John Radden of St. Cloud and Peter Radden of Avon; two sisters, Mrs. Frank House of Sauk Centre and Mrs. John Keppers of Avon.

Mrs. Meyers was active in church work, before her illness confined her to her home. She was a charter member of the Mater Dolrosa Society and at one time served the organization as its president. She was also active in the Christian Mothers Society. Mrs. Meyers was well-known in this community. She was a friendly neighbor and had many friends who regret her passing.

A Solemn Requiem Mass was held this Thursday morning at St. Paul's Catholic church at 9:00 a.m. Msgr. Plachta read the service. Interment was made in St. Paul's Cemetery.

The pallbearers selected from among Mrs. Meyer's grandsons were as follows: Irvin Koopman, Buffalo Lake; Arnold Jensen, Russell Meyers, Ray Meyers, Paul Meyers and Edward Jensen, all of Brainerd. Eugene Theisen, a grandson, from Duluth, acted as crossbearer.

The Honorary pallbearers were: Mrs. Mary Miller, Mrs. Josephine Prasch, Mrs. B.O. Vogel, Mrs. John Thielen, Mrs. J.B. Schoenhoff and Mrs. Agnes Gelting.

Mrs. Anna Katherine Meyers was born in March 1859 in Germany to parents John Radden (Germany) and Gertrude Kraemer (Germany). Her husband Math had died. She died April 6, 1937 in Sauk Centre and was buried at Sauk Centre. Information was supplied by Victoria Meyers of Sauk Centre.
