Hannah was born to Henry Sr. and Margaret Keiser Eckler in Pine Grove, Schuylkill Co. PA the second surviving child of fourteen.

She married Johannes (John) Spancake on 07 Dec 1839 most likely in Pine Grove, Schuylkill Co. PA - The marriage records were kept at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jonestown, Lebanon Co., PA. They were the parents of four daughters. The family located to South Bend, St. Joseph Co., IN before 1865. Two of Hannah's sisters were already in South Bend - Brother John Franklin Eckler and Family would follow. Daughter Ellemira (15 June 1842)-married in PA, Isabella married Henry Loudon Werntz in Bertrand, Berrien Co., MI - His family also had come from Pine Grove. They made their home in South Bend. Daughter Emila died at one year of age in PA. Daughter Emiline Emma married an Elias Mace in South Bend, had a son Edwin Mace and divorced. Johannes was self-employed as a carpenter and house painter. Hannah died on April 12, 1890, at the age of 75yrs - a victim of Cancer. Johannes passed on May 22, 1896, at the age of 79yrs. They are buried in the Lakeville Cemetery south of South Bend, their markers cannot be found. They are listed in the Cemetery Records as being interred there.
