Frank Call, 68, a pioneer and resident of Star Valley all his life, passed away Tuesday about 10:15 a.m. at the home of his sister, Mrs A.E.Kennington, north of Afton. Death was attributed to hardening of the arteries. He had been seriously ill for the past four months, and was cared for during this time by Mr and Mrs Kennington and family. His health has not been good for several years.
Frank Call was born in Bountiful, Utah, December 24, 1883, the son of A.V. and Lucy E. King Call. He came to Star Valley with his father and mother when he was about five years old, and has lived here ever since. He has contributed materially to the growth and development of the community as a builder, stock raiser and tiller of the soil.
He was widely known as a lover of horses and took great pride in his ownership of thoroughbred stock. He pain as much as $1,000 for some of his horses, back in the days before inflation when that was a lot of money.
Although he never married, he lived a full life. He was like a member of the A.E. Kennington family, and he spent roughly a third of his life living in the home of his sister, Stella.
A faithful church worker, he fulfilled two LDS missions a two-year mission to the North Central States when he was younger and again in 1945 he went on a six-month mission to the same place. He was a High Priest and acted as a ward teacher for many years.
He4 maintained a ranch north of Afton for many years but purchased some land on the south edge of the Afton city limits about 17 years ago and moved there.
He is survived by the following members of his immediate family; Mrs Stella Kennington, Afton; C.J.Call, Los Angeles; Mrs Mary Low, South Gate Calif.; Dr Fred W. Call, Idaho Falls; Dr George A. Call, Torrington; W. L. Call and E. A. Call Afton; a sister Laura Ann and a brother, Dr. Ira E. Call preceded him in death. He is also survived by the following half-brothers and half-sisters; Vasco Call, Rosedale, Calif.; Maud Burton, Afton Ella Cook Afton, Carrie Burton Ogden; Farnham Call Afton; Dr Chester Call Ukiah Calif.; Lorna Schlote Ogden; Thomas J. Call Afton. Charles S. Call Afton; Vinnie Roberts Logan; Dr Horace Call, Los Angeles; Rosa Spackman, Lewiston Utah; Dr Ciril Call Phoenix Ariz.; Lucy Nield Richland Wash,; Lt Col. Ivan L. Call Korea; Raoul Call Burley, Idaho; Marius Call Afton; Cecil Call Afton; Rosso Call Ogden; Reva Todd Ogden.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday, Sept 4 in the Afton North Ward Chapel by Bishop M.J. Austin, as follows;
