Heart attack takes Fairview rancher
Archie Kennington, 77, a Fairview rancher died June 1, 1988 of a heart attack. Funeral services were conducted on June 4, 1988 in the Fairview LDS Ward. Interment was under the direction of Schwab Mortuary in the Fairview Cemetery.
Born Sept 30, 1910 in Fairview WY to A.R. and Ida Susan Kennington he was the sixth of 14 children. He was raised on his father's ranch in Bitter Creek where he learned to work and assumed many responsibilities such as herding sheep, milking cows and helping with the planting and harvesting of the crops.
Attended USU in Logan where he learned to be a mechanic.
Married Ida Bernice Smith, Aug 6, 1931 in the Logan LDS Temple. Member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many positions including president of the MIA and ward clerk.
He liked all sports but especially enjoyed basketball and fishing. Drove truck for Roberts Market for eight years. Arch was known as a soft spoken man with untiring patience, yet full of wit and humor. He was a loving husband and father, a good friend and neighbor to all.
Survived by his wife of Fairview, four daughters, Mrs John (Joan) Sandberg, Sylmar, CA; Mrs Sam (Janet) Draney Auburn, WY; Mrs Karla Martin, Afton; Mrs Michael (Carolyn) Sweeny, Salt Lake City; two sons Larry Kennington, Fairview; Archie Reed Kennington, Salt Lake City; three sisters, Mrs Rulon (Norma) Osmond, Hyde Park, U
T; Mrs LaVere (Deon) Johns, Afton; Mrs Karlee Thurman, Grover; three brothers G. Harvey Kennington, Crow Creek WY: A.R. Kennington Jr., Layton UT; L.D. Kennington, Fairview, 30 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
