Ida Teolina Larson was born in Lake Preston on February 7, 1883, the daughter of Syver H. and Cathinka Mary Larson. On Jun 10, 1913, she was married to Gabriel J. Ostroot in Lake Preston and made her home there until her death. After the death of her husband in 1947, Ida took over the insurance agency previous held by her husband. She also handled the selling of monuments and markers.

She was active in community and civic affairs until the end. She was a lifetime member of the Lake Preston Lutheran Ladies Aid, and an active member of the Senior Civic Club, Garden Club, and Excelsior Club.

Ida died Friday, May 11, 1959 at her home, apparently of a heart attack. Funeral services were conducted at the Lake Preston Lutheran church, the Rev. A. H. Johnshoy officiating. Burial was in the Lake Preston Cemetery.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Noel(Geraldine)Tweet of Kansas City, MO, formerly SD Secretary of State, and Mrs. R. J. (Norma)Jerde of Watertown; one son, Warren Ostroot of Duncan, OK; two brothers, Henry Larson of Lake Preston and William Larson of Chicago., IL; one sister, Mrs. H.S. (Hilda) Hanson of Aberdeen; and four grandchildren.

She was preced in death by her husband; one son Royal; three sisters, Annie Marie, Agnes Camilla and Ida Mathilde; and five brothers, John Ludvig, Lewis J., Edwin Christian, Emil Julius, and Gustav Ferdinand Larson.
