Edwin Christian Larson, 91, died at his home in Brookings Feb. 24, 1959. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Feb. 28 at Brookings First Lutheran Church and at 3 p.m. at North Preston Lutheran Church in Kingsbury County.

Mr. Larson was born near Oslo, Norway on June 1, 1867. While still an infant, he came with his parents to the United States, first living in rural Fillmore Co., MN. His parents homesteaded in North Preston in Kingsbury County when he was nine, and he grew to manhood in that community. He received his elementary education, religious instruction and was confirmed in the Lutheran Church in North Preston. He received further education at Augustana Academy in Canton.

On June 24, 1899, he was united in marriage to Martha Brekhus. They lived in North Preston for 30 years and were charter and active members of the North Preston Lutheran Church. In 1929 they retired and moved to Brookings, where they became members of Brookings First Lutheran.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Esther Halvorson and Mrs. Herbie Oines of Brookings and Mrs. Sedley Lingo of Huron; two sons, Selmer of Anchorage, Alaska, and Arthur of Woodlawn, CA; two sisters, Mrs. Hilda Hanson of Aberdeen and Mrs. Ida Ostroot of Lake Preston, and two brothers, Henry of Lake Preston and William of Chicago, as well as 13 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son.
