Funeral services were held here Saturday for William Carl Larson, 74, former Lake Preston clothing merchant who died Monday of last week in a Chicago hospital after a brief illness. Services were conducted at Lake Preston Lutheran Church of which Larson was a member during his residence here. Interment was at the Lake Preston Cemetery.
Willie was born in Lake Preston on July 19 1885, the son of Syvert and Cathinka Larson. He married Emma Nordhagen on June 10, 1913 and to the union two daughters were born. He owned the Model Clothing House in Lake Preston for many years. In 1933 he moved to Brookings where he operated a toggery store and about four years later moved to Chicago, where he resided until his death last week.
He was a musician for many years, and his wife, also a musician, played pipe organ in the Lake Preston Lutheran Church.
He is survived by two daughters, Elaine Bobb of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Virginia Jones of Chicago; one brother, Henry Larson of Lake Preston; a sister, Hilda Hanson, of Aberdeen; 2 granddaughters, one grandson, and one great grandson. He was preceded in death by his wife, four brothers and three sisters. Pallbearers at services were Henry Hendrickson, Peter Larsen, L.J. Lewis, Ing Beck, Henry Brekke and Henry Gunderson.
