William Michael "Mike" Biggers, 70, of Greenwood, died of heart failure Thursday, June 5, 1997, at Greenwood Leflore Hospital.
Mr. Biggers was born in Montgomery County and moved to Greenwood 50 years ago. He owned and operated Mike Biggers' Standard Service Station on Fulton Street for many years. He was a sales representative for Saul's Metal Company of Chicago for a number of years, and was also in Auto Parts repair business in Greenwood for a number of years. He was retired for five years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Greenwood, Elk's Lodge #854, Masonic Lodge and a member of the VFW.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 8, at First Baptist Church in Greenwood with the Rev. Jimmy Sartain officiating. Burial was in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Greenwood.
Mr. Biggers is survived by his wife, Mrs. Barbara G. Biggers of Greenwood; two sons, Michael Biggers of Vicksburg, Robert Biggers of Dallas; one step-daughter, Debbie Bussey of Greenwood; three step-sons, James Rose of Grenada, Don Rose of Ft. Jefferson Station, N.Y., David Rose of Medford, Conn.; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Allen Biggers of Greenwood, Steve Biggers of Kilmichael; three sisters, Rachael Chandler of Greenwood, Rebecca Thompson and Mildred Pittman, both of Winona. Pallbearers were Morris Johnson, Charles Goasa, Charles E. Holmes, Jr., Paul Long, Bryan Jackson, Dan Randle, Raymond Little and Roy Rozier.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 500 W. Washington St., Greenwood, MS 38930 or to the Men's State Project for Elk's. Wilson & Knight Funeral Home of Greenwood was in charge of arrangements. Obituary from Winona Times, Winona, MS
