Funeral services for Mrs. Leola Biggers Holmes, 84, resident of Gulfport and former resident of Winona, were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, 1991 at Oliver Chapel with Dr. Harold Richardson officiating. Burial was in the Kilmichael Friendship Cemetery.

Mrs. Holmes died Monday, March 4, 1991 after a lengthy illness at Gulfport Memorial Hospital in Gulfport. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Steve Lory Biggers and the widow of the late Oliver Wendell Holmes.

Born in Montgomery County, Mrs. Holmes was a retired teacher, a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Winona, a member of Winona Women's Club and the American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Mary Anna Davis and her husband, Mr. Ottis Lee Davis, both of Gulfport; three sisters, Mrs. Mildred Pittman and Mrs. Rebecca Thompson, both of Winona, and Mrs. Rachael Chandler of Greenwood; three brothers, Steve Biggers of Kilmichael, Allen Biggers and Mike Biggers, both of Greenwood; and one granddaughter, Miss Susan Davis.

Serving as pallbearers were Sam Pittman, Jerry Crowder, Holmes Curtis, Arnie Pittman, Henry Chandler and Ralph Pace. Oliver Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
