William Henry Hardy, for many years a resident of Allenport, died suddenly of a heart attack at his home at 6:15 a.m. Monday morning, July 29, 1940. His suddent death came as a distinct shock to members of his family as well as to the entire community.
William Henry Hardy was the son of the late William Hardy and Annie Wenzel Hardy, of Allenport. He was born August 4, 1901 at Johnstown, Pa., but most of his life was spent in the vicinity of Mount Union. He had been a trusty employee of the North American Refractories Company at the Mount Union plant almost form its beginning.
He wsa united in marriage with Miss Margaret Grove on September 10, 1921 at Cumberland, Maryland. They established their home and had since reside din Allenport. With his family he attended the Methodist church there.
Mr. Hardy was an ardent fisherman and hunter. He loved the out-of-doors and spent much time in the woods.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Margaret Hardy and the following sons and daughters; Gladys, William, Jr., Anna Margaret, Emmett, Donald and Janice, all at home.
Also surviving are his mother, Mrs. Annie Hardy Ripple and the following sisters and brothers: Mrs. Fred Beatty, Gilboa; Fred Hardy of Allenport; Mrs. Mabel Sounders, Huntingdon; Mrs. John Price, Kistler; Charles Hardy, James Hardy, Clyde Hardy and Ryamond Hardy, all of Allenport; Mrs. Alice Watkins, of Saltillo and Mrs. Caroline Beckwith of Mount Union.
After a short prayer service at the home at 11 o'clock Wednesday morning the body was taken to the Allenport Methodist church where services were held at 2 o'clock. Rev. Richard Welliver will officiate and interment will be made at Gilboa cemetery. Clark funeral service.
