MOUNT UNION, January 12. - William Garfield Hardy died at his home in Allenport Sunday morning, January 10, after an illness of eight months from complications. He was born in this vicinity, the son of Jacob and Belle N. Hardy, the former deceased and was aged 44 years.
Mr. Hardy was united in marriage with Miss Annie Wenzel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wenzel on February 1, 1901. Mr. and Mrs. Hardy established a home in Allenport after their marriage and they have lived in that vicinity ever since.
The deceased was a member of the Methodist church of Allenport. He had been an employe of the United States Refractories corporation for fourteen years, and was industrious. Surviving are the widow and these children: William Hardy, Fred Hardy, Allenport; Mrs. Fred Beatty, Gilboa; Mrs. Ralph Souders, Huntingdon; Mrs. John Price, Mount Union, Charles, James, Clyde, Raymond, Alice and Caroline Hardy, at home. His mother, Mrs. Belle Hardy of Shirleysburg, a brother, Thomas Hardy of Hares Valley and a sister, Mrs. Annie Brown of Allenport, also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at the home tomorrow afternoon at 1:30 and at the Methodist church, Allenport, at 2 o'clock, in charge of Rev. D. Y. Brouse, pastor of the First Methodist church and of the Allenport church. Burial will be made in the Odd Fellows' cemetery.
