She was born September 10, 1886, at Johnstown, a daughter of Charles and Mary (Bowman) Wenzel. She was married to William Hardy of Mapleton and he preceded her in death in January of 1926. She later married Charles E. Ripple who preceded her in death on April 8, 1950.
Surviving are the following children: Mrs. Mary Beatty of Kistler, Mrs. Charles (Mable) McCall of Huntingdon, Mrs. Lydia Price of Huntingdon, Mrs. Paul (Alice) Watkins of Saltillo, Mrs. Fred (Caroline) Chucheck of Clearfield and Charles, James, Clyde and Fred Hardy, all of Mount Union.Also surviving are the following step-children, Mrs. Madeline Wakefield of Mount Union, Mrs. Elizabeth Grove of Bethlehem and Mrs. Kathleen Appleby of California. Two sons preceded her in death. There are 49 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Also surviving are one sister, Mrs. Rose Fleck of Harrisburg and one brother, Henry Wenzel of Bellwood.
She was a member of the Mount Union DOA Lodge for 27 years and served as treasurer for 23 years. She was a member of the Methodist Church of Allenport and a past president of the Womans Society of Christian Service. She was a member of the Women's Bible Class and the official board of the church and also taught a Sunday School class.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Clark funeral home in Mount Union. The Rev. E. Z. Utts will officiate. Interment will be made in the Mount Union IOOF Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after noon on Wednesday.
