Thomas was the youngest Son and child of Michael Wolf (known as Jeff Mitchell 1847-1927) who were from an immigrant family that hailed from Wurges, Bad Camberg, Germany. His mother was Rebecca Catherine Hill Wolf (1847-1925), daughter of early settlers to Bastrop County, Texas. William as born in Bastrop County and grew up in a family of 8 children (four others died as children) who farmed and ranched at the Walnut Creek Community (today Rockne) Bastrop County. The family also lived on ranch near Seguin, Guadalupe County and Thomas born at Walnut Creek, Bastrop (now Rockne, Tx).

Thomas married Mary Marguerite Strack (1888-1965) in Travis County on 8 Feb 1911. They were parents to 7 children, 4 sons and 3 daughters. The family was active in farming and ranching. Thomas died at Brackenridge Hospital in Austin on 11 Mar 1962 at age 76, he was last living in Leander, Texas.
