Son of Michael Wolf (1847-1927) and Rebecca Catherine Hill Wolf (1847-1925) in what is today Rockne, Bastrop County, Texas (Walnut Hill rural area). His father Michael Sr was 10 years old when his family of immigrants from Wurges, Bad, Camberg, Germany settled in the German Community of Rockne in 1856. His mother Rebecca, was born in Missouri and also settled in Bastrop as a child with her parents and family.

Michael (often as his father was, referred to as Mitchell) grew up in a farming and ranching family of 8 children, 4 sons and 4 daughters (4 others died as children) who ranched at Rockne and also Sequin, Texas.

On the 7th of July 1913, Michael married Cogee Lee Chitwood (1883-1958) a accomplished music instructor in Colorado. The couple settled in El Paso, Texas and Michael worked as a pharmacist eventually owning his own drugstore named Sun Drugs until his retirement.

Michael died in 1954 in El Paso. His wife survived him until passing in 1958. It appears the couple never had children. Michael was cremated.
