He was born on October 18, 1924 in Kylertown, a son of the late Clyde and Bertha (Lucas) Welch.
Mr. Welch was formerly employed by the Bradford Coal Co., the former Patterson Fire Brick and the John Jury Redi-Mix as a truck driver.
He talked on the CB and known as "Slimpickins" and Loved farming
He was a member of the Glen Richey Fire Hall, the Chester Hill Fire Hall and served in the US Army during World War II.
He is survived by five children,

Beatrice Kukla and husband John, Curwensville
Shirley White, Clearfield
Dorothy Passmore and husband Robert, New Millport
Kimberly Selfridge and husband William, Clearfield
15 grandchildren and their spouses, 11 great grandchildren and numerous step grandchildren and great grandchildren,

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Mae (Welker) Welch on January 14, 1996 and whom he married in August 1939, a great grandchild, a son-in-law William A. White and these brothers and sisters, Carl, Haskell, Herbert and Elmer Welch, Mary (Welch) McFaye and Gladys (Welch) Martell.
Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Friday at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. John F. White officiating. Interment will follow in the Bradford Cemetery, Woodland.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Olanta Lutheran Church, the Glen Richey Fire Hall or the Chester Hill Hose Company.
