Born March 3, 1915 , Kyler town, he was the son of Clyde A. and Bertha (Lucas) Welch.
On July 4 1934 in LeContes Mills, he wed Veronica Royer who survives.
Mr. Welch was employed as a miner for Woolridge Coal Co., Karthaus for 25 years; He also served as a custodian at the Saint Marys Assumption Church, Frenchville and also Saint Callistus Catholic Church in Kane for over 20 years. He was a night watchman at Stackpole Corp., Kane, a delivery man of the Kane Republican and a representative for Wright's Monuments of Bradford and also for the former Leo Moore Monument Co. in Leeper.
He was a member of the Saint Callistus Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus of Kane, F&AM lodge No. 556 in Kane, and the FOE of Clearfield.
Survivors include son Ward of Colora, Md.; daughter Ruth Joan Skelly of Kane, brothers Charles of Pine Glen, Floyd of Olanta and Herbert of Clearfield; sisters Mary McFaye of Frenchville, Theona Derbeque of Red Lion, Gladys Martell and Eva Dodge, both of Clearfield, Bertha Collar and Edna Best of Ransonville, N.Y., and Edith Weld of Madera, along with six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Elmer in 1929 and Haskell in 1987.
Friends may call at the McDonald II Funeral Home, 103 South Fraley St. (Route 66), Kane, Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where parish prayers will be said.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at eh Saint Callistus Catholic Church with Father Joseph Jerge.
Interment will take place in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Kane
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association.
