Ella was the daughter of Charles Christopher Snowden & Minerva Frances Portwood Snowden. She married John C. Garrison, the son of James & Frances Riley Garrison, on October 20, 1887 in Madison County. Eld. A.J. Tribble officiated. The couple were the parents of Shirley Jake, James Charles, Willie Mae, Margaret, Mary, Anna Langford and John C. Garrison. Mr. Garrison passed away, in 1912.

Mrs. Snowden moved, with most of her children, from Madison County, Kentucky to the city of Hamilton, Ohio, after 1920. She led an active social life and the Hamilton newspapers printed many articles about her attendance at homemaker club meetings and family gatherings.
