Minerva was the daughter of Joseph and Lucy Gentry Portwood. Her grandfather, Samuel C. Portwood was on the muster rolls at Fort Boonesborough. She married Charles Snowden on September 28, 1850 in Madison County. Their children were: Joan, Isabella, Frances, Sarah, Susan, George, Nannie, Ella, Lucy, Charles, Laura and William Snowden.

Mrs. Snowden kept had a warm and loving home and was, in return, loved and respected by her children. She lived a very long and honorable life and passed away at the age of 94.

Note: Minerva's DC listed the place of interment as "Family Burying Ground". All of the Snowden burials, of this time period. merely stated "Waco, Ky", "Family Graveyard" or "Family Burying Ground". I believe these locations referred to the Portwood-Snowden Cemetery, aka Craig Cemetery.
