William was baptized as Wilhelm August Georg Klett at the German Presbyterian Church of Elizabeth. He was called Willie as a child and went by William G. Klett as an adult. He served as a mechanic, Company 4, 1st Battalion, 153rd Depot Brigade, U.S. Army, World War I, 1917-1919.

The following obituary was published in the Elizabeth Daily Journal, Elizabeth, NJ, 27 May 1974, p. 6:

William Klett, 79; DuPont Carpenter

LINDEN – William G. Klett, 79, of 210 W. Curtis St. died Saturday at home.

Born in New Jersey, he lived a total of 48 years in Elizabeth and Linden. He retired 14 years ago as a carpenter-supervisor at E.I. duPont in Linden after 28 years. He was a member of the DuPont 25-Year Club and the Carpenters Union of Elizabeth. He was a World War I Army veteran.

The husband of the late Mrs. Julia Marsh Klett, he is survived by two brothers, Henry L. of [Clark] and Albert A. of Linden, and a sister, Mrs. Anna Patete of Forked River.

Arrangements have been completed by the Werson Funeral Hime, 635 N. Wood Ave.
