Gottlieb was born in Oberndorf am Neckar, Württemberg, Germany. He immigrated to the U.S. with his parents in March 1882, at the age of 17 months.

Elizabeth Daily Journal, Tues., 1 Sep. 1952:

Gottlieb Klett, Jr.; Ex-Carpenter, 71

Gottlieb Klett Jr., 71 years old, of 409 South Park street, died yesterday in Alexian Brothers Hospital after an illness of two weeks.

Mr. Klett was born in Germany. He was brought to Elizabeth at the age of 2 years by his parents, Gottlieb and Pauline Schlenker Klett. He never married.

A carpenter by trade, Mr. Klett was employed by Titeflex, Inc., of Newark, when he retired ten years ago.

Surviving are six brothers, Frederick E. Klett of Roselle Park; Henry L. Klett, Clark Township; Frank A., William G., Oswald C. and Albert A. Klett, all of Linden, and three sisters, Mrs. William Wiener, Reno, Nev.; Mrs. George Parfitt Jr., Linden; and Mrs. Michael Patete, of Elizabeth.

A service will be conducted at Miller's Funeral Home, 1055 East Jersey street.
