Leonidas G. “Ike” Gahimer, 82, Blue Ridge, died Tuesday at St. Francis Hospital Center, Beech Grove. He was born May 2, 1913, in Rush County, the son of George and Addie Bell (Rader) Gahimer. A resident of Shelby County most of his life, he was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and served in the European Theater. Mr. Gahimer also was the owner and operator of L.G. “Ike” Gahimer Well drilling of Blue Ridge. He was a member of the former Homer Christian Church, American Legion Post 70 and the Eagles Lodge 766, both of Shelbyville. He also was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Survivors include his wife, Eulalia “Sue” Gahimer, Blue Ridge; a son, John Stephen Gahimer, Dublin, Ohio; two sisters, Isabel Smith, Shelbyville, and Thelma Fox, Blue Ridge; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five sisters and five brothers. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Carmony-Ewing Harrison Street Funeral home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. The Rev. James Farnsley will officiate. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Cemetery. Military graveside services will be conducted by local veterans organizations.
