Mary Helen Abel, 99, of 2713 Pindell Ave., died Thursday at Methodist Evangelical Hospital.
She was the former Mary Helen Mattingly and a native of Daviess County.
Survivors: three sons, William G. Abel of Auburndale, Mass, James R. Abel of Fort Myers, Fla., and Joseph C. Abel of Richmond, Va.; five daughters, Gin Shadowen of Frankfort, Dorothy Mittle, Jeanne Abel, Betty Scheurich and Louise Sharp; a brother, Gene Mattingly; four sisters, Pauline Aull and Nannie Mae Higdon, both of Owensboro, Kate Dishman of Redford, Mich., and Mary C. Callahan; 26 grandchildren; and 51 great-grandchildren.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Monday, St. Stephen Martyr Catholic Church, Hess Lane at Pindell. Burial: Calvary Cemetery. Visitation: Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, after 10 a.m. Sunday.
