Although his death certificate listed his middle name as Carl, that was an error. His St. Lawrence Catholic Church basptismal record, and three baptismal records for children which include a middle name for their father, have the middle name Carroll.

Charles C. Mattingly, 91, a retired merchant of Knottsville, died yesterday at 3:45 p.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital after a short illness.
He was member of the St. William Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Bell Mattingly; six daughters, Mrs. D. E. Roby, Owensboro, Mrs. William Able, Louisville, Mrs. Harry Aull, Knottsville, Mrs. Orville Dishmon, Detroit, Mrs. Leo Callaghan, Louisville, Mrs. Nannie Mae Higdon, Owensboro; five sons, Herman Mattingly, Owensboro, Garland and Eugene Mattingly, Louisville, Casper and Joseph Mattingly, both of Knottsville; 51 grandchildren; 69 great-granchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Mrs. Mag Roberts, Knottsville; two brothers, John Mattingly, of Missouri, and Frank Mattingly, Knottsville.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the St. William Church with the Rev. Robert Whelan, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the St. William Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The body was removed from the Delbert J. Glenn Mortuary to the residence, where prayers will be said at 7:30 tonight.
